Evening Ride and Pugsley Update

Stopped by MWC this morning to order the rest of the Pugsley parts I need. I'm going to use the SRAM shifters/ders from the Dos Niner and upgrade the Dos Niner with XT parts. Also got a handlebar, stem, and other misc. items orders to round out the build. Everything should arrive Wednesday so if all goes well, the Pugsley could be ready a few days after that.

I haven't ridden much this past week due to trying to let my body heal. My left achilles tendon has been bothering me from before Dirty Kanza and it got really inflamed after that. Then on my first bacon ride I banged up my left knee a bit and it gets quite sore when I'm riding. So after almost a week completely off the bike, I decided tonight would be a good night to get in a moderate distance ride. This was before Lincoln got hit with a nice thundershower right around 5PM. I drove home and after eating dinner, the weather looked like it had mostly cleared up and there was only a light sprinkle.

I jumped on the Salsa Mamasita and rode my intown loop which is just a hair over 25 miles. I'm definitely not in great shape and the awesome new jersey from MWC makes it very apparent that I've gained a few pounds. When you revert to eating poorly and drinking too much soda and combine that with a large reduction in miles, it's the obvious consequence. I feel like I'm motivated enough now to lose the 10-15 lbs I need to get back to my 'fighting weight'. It'll involve getting up early and riding for at least an hour before getting to work and then riding a few evenings during the week coupled with some longer rides on the weekends. Hopefully I can report back in a month or so and say mission accomplished.

I will part with a photo of the sunset as I was heading home on Vine St and a blury picture of me, a bit dirty from the evening's ride.

That mohawk is sweet. A little bleach and some dye and you're on your way to punk rock bliss.

Unfortunately the mohawk was a weekend only thing, due to work restrictions. I'm sure you'll understand. :)
