Saturday AM ride

Great morning for a ride. Woke up at 5AM and was out the door at 5:25AM. I hussled to complete my downtown loop and get to the 84th St. Mo-Pac trailhead by 6AM. I got there at 6:04, about two minutes before Ben D showed up. We rode out at a pretty good pace, averaging just over 15mph to the end of the Mo-Pac in Wabash. We stopped briefly in Eagle to eat a quick snack and pet the crazy chihuahua that always comes out to chase bikers as they ride the few blocks in town.

The weather was perfect and the scenery was beautiful. There were a few areas that were muddy/wet and I foolishly got off the bike and tried to walk it around/through while minimizing mud. It was a mistake and my front tire/fork was coated in a really sticky mud. Ben had it even more severe as he had full fenders. It was kind of fitting though, as he always goes on about how great his fenders are for preventing butt streaks. :) On the way back I decided to go through everything on the bike and it was a vast improvement. Only got a little mud by chosing the proper lines and was much happier with my shoes not getting anymore muddy.

Ben and I stopped on the way back in Elmwood at the gas station to refill water bottles, purchase a snack, and so Ben could clean his front fender. We both wanted to get into home as close to 10AM as possible and not get eaten by mosquitos on the trail, so we kept stops to a minimum and when we did stop, they were quick.

We rolled into town a few minutes after 10AM and headed south on 84th St and then west on Pioneers to get home. I rolled into the garage shortly before 10:15AM feeling great with having just completed a 60+ weekend morning ride with perfect weather.
