Sunday Bacon Ride

Partook in my first bacon ride this Sunday. Arrived at the Mo-Pac trailhead at 6:01 and we were off within a few minutes. The guys in the lead were driving a great pace and we arrived at the end of the Mo-Pac in ~80 minutes. The ride on gravel/asphalt wasn't much slower, it even included a little sprinting, and we arrived at Plate River State Park shortly after 8AM.

After breakfast I was ready to head back to asphalt/gravel/limestone, but everyone else was anxious to do "15 minutes" of single track on our way out of the park. I decided to go along and paid the price almost immediately. Long story short, I crashed a few times, my rear wheel came loose thanks primarily to having the Burley trailer attachment installed, and I got lost. Thankfully Corey answered his phone when I called him after escaping the trails and he told me where to meet up with the rest of the guys.

We met at the entrance to the Park and headed home from there. Thankfully the pace home was a bit more relaxed as I had banged up my left knee during one of the crashes on the single track. By the time we arrived back at the Mo-Pac trailhead at right around 1PM, I was ready to be done. My knee was pretty sore and my left achilles tendon had flared up again. Even with those minor distractions, I had a great time and can't wait for the next one... minus the single track.
